Day-by-day itinerary
Day 1
Buenos Aires · Ushuaia
Meeting with our guide at the airport, check-in, and boarding of the JetSMART flight to Ushuaia. Arrival and welcome at Malvinas Argentinas Airport, followed by transfer and accommodation at the selected hotel. There is no doubt that being in the southernmost city in the world holds a special charm. Set on the shores of the Beagle Channel, Ushuaia offers a unique landscape that combines mountains, sea, glaciers, and forests, and it is the only Argentine city located west of the Andes. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 2 · 120 km
Ushuaia · Lakes Escondido & Fagnano · Tolhuin
Breakfast. Today the adventure begins! Aboard 4x4 vehicles, we leave Ushuaia behind to follow off-road tracks, crossing lenga forests, peat bogs, and backcountry areas that reveal the most authentic side of the destination. The route includes Garibaldi Pass, one of the finest viewpoints on the island, and then continues to Lakes Escondido and Fagnano, two of the most important lakes in Tierra del Fuego. Throughout the experience, our guide will help us read the landscape, explaining how the land was formed and the natural dynamics of the area. We will stop at the lodge for lunch before continuing to our final destination, Tolhuin. Accommodation at the selected hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Fagnano. Overnight in Tolhuin.
Day 3 · 180 km
Tolhuin · Cabo San Pablo · Tolhuin
Breakfast. We drive north on RN 3 to its junction with Provincial Route A. From there, we turn east onto gravel roads that cross unspoiled landscapes, revealing the beauty of the Fuegian steppe with every kilometer. The drive culminates in panoramic views of the vast Atlantic Ocean and the wreck of the cargo ship Desdémona, aground since 1985. We trek along guanaco trails, with guanacos keeping us company the whole way, up to the top of Cabo San Pablo to visit its lighthouse, built in 1941 and destroyed by an earthquake in 1949. After the walk, we descend and head to a small fishing village whose fishermen use rudimentary techniques to catch róbalo (Patagonian blennie), salmon, silverside, and octopus. We will have time for a seafood lunch and will learn about the way of life of the people who live in the area. After this experience, which embodies the purest essence of Patagonia, where history and nature merge, we begin our return to Tolhuin. Accommodation at the selected hotel. Dinner at the hotel restaurant overlooking Lake Fagnano. Overnight in Tolhuin.
Day 4 · 170 km
Tolhuin · Puerto Almanza · Ushuaia
Breakfast. We leave the 4x4 vehicles behind and continue in a conventional vehicle, getting back on RN 3 and skirting Lake Fagnano toward Ushuaia as far as the junction with Route J, a gravel road through dense native forest. Our final destination is Puerto Almanza, on the Beagle Channel, where cannons can still be seen pointing toward Puerto Williams on the Chilean shore. They are a living reminder of what is known as the Beagle Conflict, the war that “never was” between Argentina and Chile in December 1978. Once we arrive, we will follow an interpretive trail that helps us understand coastal life and its relationship with the Beagle Channel. The highlight of the excursion is lunch at a local restaurant, with typical regional cuisine and open views of the Beagle Channel, Puerto Williams, and Isla Gable. After lunch, we rejoin RN 3 for the drive back to the city of Ushuaia. Accommodation at the selected hotel. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 5
Ushuaia
Breakfast. Morning at leisure to enjoy the city or visit some of its museums, most notably the Maritime and Prison Museum and the End of the World Museum. In the afternoon, we will take the Beagle Channel boat excursion, an unforgettable experience in the heart of the End of the World. On this excursion, we will sail the majestic Beagle Channel, visiting Isla de los Lobos, Isla de los Pájaros, and the iconic Les Éclaireurs Lighthouse. The most anticipated moment will be the arrival at the Isla Martillo penguin colony, where we will observe Magellanic penguins in their natural habitat from the boat. It is an ideal way to discover not only the Beagle Channel, on a boat trip of about 5 hours, but also the city from a different perspective. Accommodation at the selected hotel. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 6 · 50 km
Ushuaia · Laguna Esmeralda · Ushuaia
Breakfast. Morning at leisure and, in the afternoon, departure for Laguna Esmeralda (Emerald Lagoon). After about 20 km, having passed Mount Olivia and Cerro Cinco Hermanos, we get out of the vehicle to begin a guided 10 km round-trip trek that reveals the beautiful landscapes of Tierra del Fuego and is also one of the region's most accessible hikes. On this excursion, we will explore valleys, cross peat bogs and rocky terrain, and finally follow the Esmeralda River to reach the stunning lagoon, a small lake of glacial origin named for the distinctive color of its waters. Along the walk, we will enjoy forests, mountains, and rivers in a dreamlike natural setting. Once the walk is over, we will head to a heated mountain dome to enjoy a hot meal, snacks, and drinks. Return to Ushuaia and accommodation at the selected hotel. Overnight in Ushuaia.
Day 7
Ushuaia · Tierra del Fuego National Park · Ushuaia · Buenos Aires
Breakfast. After checking out, we will get ready for one of the must-do excursions for discovering the End of the World. On a half-day tour, we will explore Tierra del Fuego National Park, a unique setting that brings together lenga, ñire, and coihue beech forests, streams, mountains, and open views that define the Fuegian landscape. Along the way, we will not only enjoy the scenery but also come to understand it, learning about the history of Ushuaia and the formation of the land, with the chance to spot wildlife such as foxes, guanacos, and birds of the region. The highlight is Bahía Lapataia, where RN 3 comes to an end: the southernmost point that can be reached by road anywhere in the Americas and a true bucket-list moment at the End of the World. The excursion runs from 08:00 to 13:30 and has a low difficulty level. The park entrance fee is paid on site. The visit to Ensenada Zaratiegui is subject to road conditions. As an option, you can add the End of the World Train (45 minutes), a historic experience that complements the tour very well. After the visit, we will return to the city, where we will have the afternoon at leisure. At the agreed time, transfer to the airport to board the JetSMART flight to Buenos Aires. Arrival and end of services.
